If you are affected by morning sickness, you are probably wondering what to eat when pregnant that won’t exacerbate the nausea you feel. There are many foods to eat while pregnant that can actually ease the symptoms you are feeling. The most important thing to remember is to stay hydrated and to stay nourished.
Even though you may not feel like drinking or eating anything, try these tips to handle your morning sickness. If your nausea is extreme or if you feel you may be dehydrated, contact your doctor immediately. She might recommend a prescription medication that is safe to use during pregnancy and makes morning sickness easier to take.
Ginger
Ginger root is excellent for quelling nausea. But rather than drink ginger ale, which has high fuctose corn syrup or artificial sweeteners, make a ginger tea. Simply boil slices of ginger in hot water. Sweeten with xylitol, agave syrup, or stevia to taste. Sip slowly throughout the morning to ease your nausea.
Chicken Soup
Chicken broth is gentle on your stomache and is a good source of protein and nutrients. Boil organic chicken pieces, parsley, black pepper, garlic (if you can stand the taste), and Celtic sea salt together to make a broth.
You can add slices of ginger if you desire for nausea. Sip slowly throughout the day to get the nutrients you need, stay hydrated and get a protein boost.
Crackers
Crackers seem to be everyone’s go-to food when sick, especially the comfort food to eat when pregnant, but you run the risk of gaining too much body weight too fast if you eat only processed and refined carbs. If you must have crackers, opt for rice crackers, which are easier on your digestion than wheat. You can also try hot cereals made of millet or quinoa, which are better carbohydrates with denser nutrients than oatemeal or wheat.
